Sam & Meredith’s Palmetto Bluff Wedding

Sam & Meredith’s Palmetto Bluff Wedding

I love a good story, and Sam & Meredith’s Palmetto Bluff Wedding is definitely a great one to tell. Meredith & Sam contacted me to start planning their wedding at the Montage Palmetto Bluff. Meredith and Sam’s goal was to have a epic party to celebrate with all of their friends in this beautiful setting. With this in mind, we set them up with an amazing vendor team and created a natural design to fit the setting. The process went pretty smoothly, and then came the plot twist.

The Monday before their wedding, all of Beaufort County was evacuated for Hurricane Dorian.

We were all floored and devastated. The only way to be proactive was working on a Plan B, C, D, etc, but nothing could be determined until we knew more. There was no way to know if the evacuation order would be lifted or if the Hurricane was going to make a direct hit on our little southern town. After a week full of stress and constant communication, H-day came, and at the very last second, Hurricane Dorian hooked right and skirted by us causing only minimal damage to our area. We were truly lucky and blessed on more than one front. A lot luckier than our friends to the South and North who didn’t fare as well.

With the good news of the light impact from the Hurricane, it was still a question of whether the evacuation order would be lifted in time for the wedding. Again, all we could do was wait for the powers that be. Then, Friday came, the same day as the rehearsal dinner, and the governor serendipitously lifted the evacuation order for Beaufort County that morning.

I swear it was like a Hallmark movie. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions!

Not only did we get the wedding plans back on track, but every one of their 180 guests made it to the wedding as planned.

So even with the biggest plot twist in our wedding world, Meredith & Sam’s wedding was truly something to behold. Their ceremony was hosted in the beautiful Somerset Chapel, from there, we transported guests via vintage buses to the cocktail hour overlooking the May River. Guests were greeted with tasty hors d’oevures and live acoustic music by Mike Kavanaugh. For the Reception, guests were invited into the River House to roam and mingle for a stationed dinner and an just what Sam and Meredith wanted, and epic dance party with a live 12 piece band.

I’ve never seen a group of that many guests so excited. And Meredith’s mantra on her wedding day of “And there’s no hurricane” will be one that I never forget.
